Hilary Chedvah (she/they) is an ordained Kohenet (Jewish Priestess), Torah teacher, diviner, and movement chaplain. While she grew up in central Pennsylvania, Hilary has been based in Toronto, Canada for nearly 15 years.

As part of her ordination coursework, Hilary hosted a Torah study livestream on Twitch titled Torah haDorshot or “Torah of the Seekers.” Some of the streams can be viewed on YouTube. Hilary has also led Torah study for the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute and Beit Kohenet. Study sheets from these sessions are available on Sefaria. Some of her favorite subjects to teach are women in Tanach, gender, LGBTQ+ themes, witchcraft, and disability.

In 2022, Hilary completed training as a movement chaplain. The following year she received smicha as a Kohenet from the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute with the title Meyaledet Binah or “Midwife of Understanding.”

Hilary has been engaged in Palestine solidarity activism since 2016 and is a member of Rabbis for Ceasefire. She convenes and leads Shomrei Neshama, a diasporist, egalitarian, and COVID-conscious minyan that meets roughly once a month.

Hilary enjoys deep conversations with friends, long walks, reading, and napping with her cat.
